PLUTO IN AQUARIUS AND OUR NEW POPE LEO THE XIV

Dear Friends,

Here we are.  The possibility for a death and transformation to a whole new way of being spiritual and human.  The death card in the Tarot is actually a very positive major arcana.  It portends the ending of a situation or experience which no longer serves us and can bring the beginning of a new, more alive, more positive and mostly more transformative way of being. The Ace of Wands Tarot card brings a new beginning.  Aces represent potential.  The Ace of Wands depicts a powerful new birth bursting forth with possibility of something exciting and creative.

I chose both of these images as I feel the election of our new Pope relates directly to the Pluto in Aquarius transit.  This transit which began in 2024 and will be with us for the next 20 years is meant to bring a new way of living our lives with compassion, kindness, non-judgment and acceptance of others.  A coming together of communities and peoples in the organic and positive ways we know will be necessary for life to continue on our planet.  Our new Pope Leo XIV has already shared somewhat of his mission statement being one which directly relates to the death of old ways no longer viable in our world and one where a new kind of creativity must emerge for the survival and thriving of our planet and our personal lives.

Also, as we continue to see the dismantling of our democracy as it was established in the late 1700’s; it is another awakening of the need to speak up and speak out for accountability and an adherence to what was and, still is, our constitutional right.  Pluto in Aquarius, here with us for the first time since the Declaration of Independence was established out of a need for not only freedom; a need for more equality for all peoples. It was exciting then and it can be exciting now.  This is what has made our country so inviting.  When our grandparents and other ancestors saw the Statue of Liberty, they saw opportunity and possibility of a new way to live their lives and we are the result of their coming to America.

It is fascinating to me as an astrologer to watch the dynamics of how this is all unfolding right before our eyes.  After the election of our 267th Pope, out of 266 popes, going back a long way before our America was established, we have chosen to elect an American Pope.  A citizen of our country.  An every day person who knows what means to live a life of privilege (being offered an opportunity to attend Harvard University) and to live a life of poverty (choosing to care for the poor).  Is this a coincidence that we have elected an American Pope after these many centuries? Something to ponder!

Will Pope Leo be able to make a difference in how governments are run?  Can he be a force for good with his words of wisdom speaking out for peace and acceptance, rather than the continuing wars and separations?  We can only trust this Pluto in Aquarius transit will bring an end to the old ways no longer serving us globally as well as personally and learn to live in peace and prosperity.

Let us do what we can to embrace this transformation to a more open-ended lifestyle; one allowing for all nations to come to the table and find a way to peaceful conflict resolution.  Hopefully, Pope Leo will have a seat at the table.
